VIOLENT ATTACK IN THE AVENUE - 15/02/2012

An unprovoked violent attack took place in Wivenhoe at 00.23 on the Avenue. This was the morning following Valentine's Day.
Whilst walking back home from the bottom of the village, up towards the Cross, I became aware that in the distance ahead of me there was unruly noise and commotion. I was approached by three youth, claiming to be from London (mixed race - black / white, slim and smartly dressed aged between 15 and 17 and accompanied by three white girls aged around 16, with shoulder length blonde / bleached hair).
The males asked for cigarettes. On refusal, the incident escalated with abuse being hurled and I was physically tormented and shoved after they started throwing gravel at me. The girls also joined in with shoves and attempted punches and kicks. i eventually stumbled
to the ground and as a consequence lost two teeth.
Does anyone know who these youth are?  Two of them, I'm temped to think might be brothers.
My suspicion is that they were resident somewhere at the middle / bottom of Wivenhoe at that time - where else might they be going at that time of the morning? (Trains had already stopped by then).
My biggest concern is that had they attacked anyone less strong than myself; injuries sustained might have even proved fatal.
The police are aware of this incident.
If you have any suspicion or know the identity of the culprits, i would ask you to make your knowledge public.
I truly believe that these were not local youth and I'd hate to think that this sort of incident or behaviour could be tolerated by the folk of Wivenhoe!

That is a horrible and shocking account, I truly hope those responsible are apprehended and dealt with.

I am so sorry to read this! What a horrible thing to happen to you, and it must have been very frightening.

I always feel so safe late at night wandering home from the pub on my own through Wivenhoe. Thankfully such incidents are rare here, and hopefully the lowlifes that did this to you will be caught.

What a horrible thing to happen. Hope you recover from your injuries as well as possible.

I was away all last week and unsure as to where this took place (was it past the doctor's surgery?). In the past year I've been aware of gangs of noisy youths congregating outside Premier Stores and where the old Car & Bike parts shop used to be, which can be a bit unpleasant.

I really hope the people who did this can be caught asap.

How awful -so sorry you were attacked, Jovan.  I thought the path next to the station was the only dangerous place after dark in Wivenhoe. Muggers attack and then jump on the next train back to Colchester / Clacton.
