Yep, available to play, download or pretty much do anything else you want with it (but please do ask Mr Mule about copyright first...) here we have the first episode of Farm Shop, Wivenhoe's very own radio soap opera.

    Oh Lordy.

This was first broadcast on Radio Wivenhoe last night, as part of Over the River with Mr Mule. THIS is hyperlocal content - you won't hear anything similar on the iPlayer...

Wonderfully, weirdly atmospheric stuff..and an addictive opening jingle. Can't wait for the next exciting episode: will we discover just what the 'Elmstead Market Creature' is?!

I'm steering clear of Elmstead just in case...

I'm hoping the good Mr Mule will continue to send these my way for posting up, once they have been broadcast. If they were on Radio 4 they would be celebrated for being a Dada take on contemporary rural living.

We know it's just Mr Mule having a laugh.

What do you mean 'just Mr Mule having a laugh'?  I've been checking the locks on the doors, and bolts on the windows, and keeping the hound underfed, just in case the beast runs out of 'food' in Elmstead. How can you trivialise such an important issue?!

    Very professional although quite eccentric!

Ahem. Are you sure that 'Fluff' catchphrase isn't copyright Mr M.? Anyway, can't miss 'Farm Shop' (trembling from withdrawal symptoms already); is it on at the same time as Over the River?

Well Mr Mule, all that hard work's been worth it: quality showtime! Ah, the great Alan Freeman: I used to live for his album programme; he's worth a tribute or three (didn't Jane used to sell that at the Greyhound?).

Puffin, don't worry: I think the creature is dead. Not that I'm an expert, but wasn't that the sound of a high velocity gunshot that cut off the howl at the end?

"The evil witch Spindriffwy" ... oh :D
I'll never walk the dog down there again without that image obtruding!

And here's the Bank Holiday bumper helping of Farm Shop. I'm thinking of changing my name to Betty every other week.

Ah, the evocative 'hidden shining isle' and the 'laughing mice': only Farm Shop has the ability to link these into a seamless whole within a few short minutes. But where's the 'Emstead Market Creature'? I think we should be told.

I didn't get in until 10 mins before the end of tonight's broadcast so I'm hoping it'll be on Listen Again - the Crumble Song in Dutch?

And here we have Episode 6 of Farm Shop.

I like the pronunciation here: FARM. Shop.

    Splendid.

And here's the final Farm Shop for the current series. Baffling but brilliant.
