Annual Quiz at St Mary's

It's that time of the year again! St Mary's popular quiz night will be held on Saturday 4th February 2012, 7pm in the church. Teams of 6 at £6 per person, including coffee, tea and MFC* provided in the interval. Bring you own drink and glasses.

Last time it didn't quite come off but perhaps the Forum will manage a team in 2012? Peter Kerr has again agreed to produce and MC the quiz. It's usually quite good light hearted fun- especially when the Rector's team gets the one and only Bible question wrong...!

I wish I wasn't organising this so I could take part for a change...

Put me down for two teams please Marika - Choir and St Mary's Singers.

We got the answer for the Bible question correct last year (quite an unusual acnievement for church musicians but then we always fail on the musical rounds!!)

Thanks Graham. The quiz master himself had the answer to the biblical one wrong, so in the end we marked everybody as correct :D
I've entered your two teams- fancy team names no doubt to follow?
That's 5 teams already booked now, they're getting earlier each year...

Will that be the Forum team's name then: The Unworthy?
    I'll book you in now!

Many thanks for such a charming evening. Ace questions from Peter Kerr, if a little slightly higher than my quiz capacity. Lovely trophy from Elmfoot.

    So who won?

DR HABS was the winning team. The team  name is an anagram of their initials, but I'm told that
DR  didn't turn up, so the HABS had it. Pretty impressive for a team of 4 when most of the other teams
    were groups of 6.

There may be a lesson in this...f ewer is more...>

It was close: 143, 141 and 139 scores for the top three teams out of fifteen

Thanks for organising a great quiz Marika - thoroughly enjoyable. And thanks to question master Peter Kerr for having the guts to go public with his Doris Day obsession.

No, Elmfoot. R and H didn't turn up (H in bed with "man flu" and R in A and E with a suspected break) So we were DABS, quite suitable for a fishing village. I was D. Many thanks to all organisers for a great quiz. The closeness of the top three scores show what a well-set quiz it was.

Ah, my fault I'm afraid... I misinformed him. But DABS is even better :D

Well done Dud, Adam, Suzanne and whoever the B was. Perhaps the winners should write the blog - like history. :-)

Thank you Hazel, the 'B' in question was Bernie B.

The questions were very well-set this year, accessible to all - but without being too easy, with the exception of the Doris round (Grrr).

Thank you as well Marika for ensuring that the church was warm enough for human occupancy!

The Doris Day round certainly caused a stir, you're the fifth team to comment!
